KAFKA BAND (BAPTISM)
Jaroslav Rudiš, Jaromír 99 and Dušan Neuwerth are returning from the new world and, together with the Kafka Band, are about to conclude a trilogy of albums inspired by the works of the writer Franz Kafka. The first single from the band's new recording is called Shame - Stud. After Castle and America, this is the third Kafka work transformed into a concept album. Der Process, produced by Dušan Neuwerth and the band, will be released on September 15, 2023 by the Indies Scope publishing house and will be launched in the Cabinet of the MÚZ.
"Shame is a theme that permeates all of Kafka's work. Shame, guilt, doubt, fear and violence. This is also the case in his probably best-known fragment The Process. Our first single seems romantically fragile, but the lyrics are full of darkness," says the band's writer and singer Jaroslav Rudiš. Dušan Neuwerth brought the composition to the rehearsal room. Rudiš wrote the lyrics together with guitarist and trumpet player Lukáš Morávek, who also sings with him in the song. Here, too, the authors drew directly from the pages of Kafka's novel.
In 2024, one hundred years will pass since the writer's death. And this year already 140 years since his birth. Franz Kafka was born in Prague on July 3, 1883 and died on June 3, 1924 in Kierling, Austria. Today he is probably the most famous Prague author.
The band, made up of famous musicians, has already adapted two books by Franz Kafka into audiovisual form. After the successful Castle came the more electronic America. The Kafka Band first set it to music in a theater in Bremen, Germany, and then reworked it into a Czech-German-English concert form. With both programs, the Kafka Band toured numerous European stages. The band performs concerts in the composition of writer and singer Jaroslav Rudiš, artist and singer Jaromír Švejdík, musicians Dušan Neuwerth, Tomáš Neuwerth, Lukáš Morávek, Zdeněk Jurčík and Petr Weiser.
