Echoes of the past, or music that has traveled to us through a space-time rupture from a time that hasn't happened yet? Maybe because relatively few people here still combine contemporary sound and Czech lyrics? Toyota Vangelis, otherwise a collaborator of Miss Petty and a founding member of the collective Future Jiskří, on this year's album Výklopný stelvemety (published by the Full Moon Forum platform) ventures into the waters of exploring one's own intimacy, but also how far one can go in the use of autotune. “The Toyota Vangelis project is about finding my identity. That who I am. I don't think I can find it. But I can discover some prints or indirectly observe back what I created," he told Radio Wave. This sound tuning defies even a trace of surviving machismo, this fleet parade is fun and maximally inclusive.
Tokyo Drift
Straight outta the innermost sorrows. When she released Scorpio Season, a less than quarter-hour album last December, many people's breath stopped. Tokyo Drift, which we also know from their close collaboration with Toyota Vangelis, combines contemporary trap beats with melancholic songwriting in seven songs, which combines a depressing introversion and the will to step out into the world with greater self-confidence. Although her performance may seem casual and non-participating, Tokyo Drift's music is extremely emotional and almost touching in its "unconsciousness". The aesthetics of the city after the rain, which looks gloomy to some, while others find a rich inner world in every reflection in the puddle.
peace between floors
In the age of the Internet, it's hard to come across outsiders. But Šimon and Matouš were among them for some time. They didn't break through with their first band, On the Roof, but with their second project between floors, quiet is already celebrating success on the domestic independent scene. With their song Lojza Kotřábek, they won the Bastl electronic track open call this year. They refer to the futuristic legacy of names such as Arca, A.G. Cook or Iglooghost. But their creations are particularly enchanting with their playfulness and compositional thoughtfulness.
