SPREAD JOY (USA) + BARE ESCAPE

Spread Joy (USA, no wave/garage/punk)

Spread Joy is a post-punk band from Chicago, which tries to capture the essentials in music and stuff it down the throats of the listeners. Frantic vocals and a loud guitar in their performance sound fun and playful, but beware... their energy relentlessly absorbs, sends you to your knees, and finally flushes you out just long enough for you to recover before the next wave. Their concert could easily become the funniest and at the same time quite crazy forty minutes of your life. After all, Maximum Rock N Roll wrote of Spread Joy: "Spread Joy's absurdly weird and wonderful angles make them the Picasso of the Midwest (minus the macho BS). Creation and destruction in under a minute? Yes please!"

BARE ESCAPE

When South Moravian Bare Escape sent the digital release "What If We Burn It" (Kabinet Records label) to the world at the very end of 2020, not even 365 days had passed since the release of their debut recording "In a Flash". Looking at the band's line-up, there is nothing special about the high pace at which Bare Escape began releasing records. The albums meet the energy of musicians' faces, namely Aleš Gajdošík, from De Mood, Ette Enaka and Aleshi, the couple Tomáš Hruban and David Mikeš, both from VDYD, and on bass Vendula Pukyšová from sinks, Nichi Mlebom, who was replaced by Rhys Braddock after the recording of the second album from Metronome Blues and Gerda Blank, with whom the band recorded two singles in 2021. The intersection of several different musical approaches brought by each of the members refers to the best of the American indie, emo and hardcore scene of the late nineties. At the beginning of 2022, Miloš Bogdan (Levantadores, KODDN, Ette Enaka) replaced the bass player.
