ANNA VAVERKOVÁ (BAPTISM)

Berlin-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Anna Vaverková released her debut album Pozdravy z Polepšovna. It was released on May 26 on the Brno label Kabinet Records. in digital version and then in November 2023 on vinyl.

The debut album Pozdravy z Polepšovna by Anna Vaverková was created during 2022 in the Berlin recording studio L.A. Recordings with the financial support of the German Initiative Musik fund. The recording was created by Anna Vaverková and Liam Blomqvist, supplemented by invited external musicians (drums, strings, brass, harp).

The recording is accompanied by themes and feelings of uncertainty and fear, which refer to the political events of the beginning of 2022. From nihilism and a whiff of Dadaism to rediscovering love. Great musicians took part in the album - Tomáš Liška (double bass in "Kde si Aneto"), Tobias Humble (drums in all songs), Peter Mojzeš (violin, string and brass arrangements for "Kde si Aneto" and "Mama a Tata") , Kelly O'Donohue (trumpet in “Ulalala”), Andy Aquarius (harp in “Kde si Aneto”) and others.

Anna currently works in Berlin, where she and her classmates from BIMM Berlin formed the band The Flavians in 2018. With this group, Anna looked at the Glastonbury festival or the Reeperbahn festival, among others. Just before the start of the covid pandemic in 2020, the band released their debut album Ordinary People in an Ordinary World, with which they did not go on tour due to the coronavirus measures. Thanks to an unexpected amount of time, Anna began to compose her own songs. Due to homesickness and dissatisfaction with the lyrics in English, the singer decided to create in her native language - Czech. Her debut EP Roztomilá Holka from 2022 caught the attention of the wider public, and Anna's own work earned her nominations for three music awards - Vinyl for the discovery of the year, Apollo for the best single of 2022 and the Anděl Awards in the Alternative and Electronic category.

I FORGOT
The Zapomělsem project, which is backed by singer-songwriter Aleš Macenauer from Jesenice, released a new record after a two-year hiatus, called Jesna. The compositions, in the form of collage fragments, tell about a night city on fire, over which spaceships fly, about inner blocks into which stars fall, and over which ghosts on the roofs whisper that we will be drunk. Moments of magical realism in a time of ubiquitous cynicism. The sonically playful record is based on indie-folk roots, but it is wrapped in electronic arrangements and touches on post-punk, IDM and hyperpop. Nevertheless, it maintains a consistent face and thus creates a unique musical world. Jesenice melancholy in Brno.
