The Atavists are a Czech rock band influenced by surf and stoner styles. They were formed at the end of 2014 and quickly found their place on the Czech music scene, especially thanks to their energetic live performances. At the center of The Atavists' unmistakable sound is frontman, guitarist and main songwriter Adam Krofian with his throaty baritone and devastating guitar lines. It is supported by the screeching sound of electric organ and synthesizer and a hard rhythm section. The Atavists secured a place in the finals of the GBOB International Battle of the Bands in Berlin. This was followed by a number of performances at important Czech music festivals and also playing in front of the famous Norwegian rockers Kvelertak. At the beginning of 2016, the debut album "Bad Times" was released, which was warmly received by critics. Later that year, they opened for Scottish Biffy Clyro in Prague's big Lucerne. The band's second album "Lo-Fi Life" was released in March 2018. The well-known Prague producer Amak Golden (whose professional resume includes bands like Killing Joke, The Damned and many others) is responsible for its sound and received excellent reviews from the press and fans. In 2019, The Atavists won two music awards, Anděl – Discovery of the Year and Best Rock Album (for Lo-Fi Life). The first single from this album, called Wrong, celebrated its success in the airwaves of Europe2, where it repeatedly held the number one position in the charts. In May 2019, the management of the British band Muse chose The Atavists as the support band for the Prague stop of The Simulation Theory 2019 tour at the airport in Prague's Letňany. In July 2019, the band opened with the legendary Skunk Anansie in Prague's Karlin Forum. Currently, The Atavists are getting the attention of foreign promoters and are preparing for a tour in the countries of Central and Western Europe. In addition, they are completing their third studio album titled "Prettier Than You", which foreshadows the first two singles "Time" and "It's All Over". The album will be released in the fall of 2022.
