CAMP

Love is a train wreck, don't wait for death. Wait for the dawn. He arrives on a frosty soulful morning - the album Údolí hvěz by Prague quartet Tábor seems to have been recorded just for him. This comes three years after Liebe's debut record. During that time, Adam, David, Kateřina and Magdalena chiseled typical atmospheric compositions for Tábor, imbued with the sound of the old harmonium, sifting and cultivating what they sowed on Liebe.

The Valley of Stars was created at the end of last October in the Tropical Cell studio, located in Karlín Barracks in Prague, and is published by the Pilsen label Day After Records. The members of the band, who we may know from other established bands on the Czech independent scene (Bahratal, Oswaldovi, Vole, Or and others), fully developed the mantric nature of their compositions. They reflect the past years, which included newly acquired parental responsibilities and unexpected events. The atmosphere of the record builds more slowly this time, harmonious vocals are given more space, gloom alternates with moments when you can breathe again.

A special timelessness prevails in the Valley of the Stars, the region that Tábor decided to inhabit. A magical place where you can meet characters from childhood nightmares and other creatures, hidden corners and meadows. Its exploration takes place in eight stops, it is gradual and concentrated. Even the Valley of the Stars hides a certain ominousness, more harmoniously, without creeping hopelessness. The (polished fine) language of the poetic texts does not lose its impact, the elapsed time is prescribed in it, when the seasons alternate according to quite different rules.

A headlong escape to life through the Valley of the Stars. And light a few spirit candles on the way. The special timelessness of the cooling autumn days and nights.

Cardo & Decumanus

Cardo & Decumanus is a solo project by Václav Orcígr (bass guitar in Or, Vlněna, cello in Paramount Styles and MaVa), in which he moves from the usually louder positions of his current and former projects to a quieter position. The resulting collage of inspiration brings to mind classic Czech country and darker neo-folk projects. Lyrically, the compositions are organized around more intimate statements of feeling, often with loose chains of association. The debut album entitled Pospolitost was released on the independent label Silver Rocket in March 2023 with a number of important guests (Kalle, Tábor, Něco Něko, Oswaldovi, Kurvy Češi, No Vida and others). Live performances of the songs are based on a classic singer-songwriter combination of acoustic guitar, voice and harmonica. Cardo & Decumanus played concerts in apartments, cafes, clubs, festivals, gardens and by the fire. In April 2024, he will follow up his inaugural trip to the Czech Republic with his colleague from the band Vlněna Tomáš Niesner with a short concert series alongside the band Tábor. He is currently finishing the material for his second album.

The label Silver Rocket writes about the album Pospolitost: "The songs on the debut album inexplicably blend - each in their own way - with the title of the album, while each one retains its own fragrance and lightness."

In the trailer for the concert, the Scout Institute in Prague writes: "As Cardo & Decumanus, Václav Orcígr set out on a lonely journey, at the end of which he finds togetherness, the scent of the mountains and the contours of a shallowly breathing city."

Cohousing project Kmen writes in the trailer for the concert: "Cardo & Decumanus is a lonely trip in search of songs that are as fragile as those special moments before the first dawn in October."

The server On the other side of the river writes in the review: "This is really something beautiful, which you will fall for quite easily, because the captivatingness here cannot even be measured."
