Digital singer-songwriter Mat213 will play a concert at Kabinet Múz in Brno on April 20, 2024. Zdena and the DJ duo Perfect Workout will perform as guests.
Mat213 is a talented young artist, he writes music and lyrics himself. Music critic Pavel Turek wrote in a profile for Respekt o Matovi213 magazine that: "he brings the unrestrained imagination and poetics of generation Z." He first worked in the band See You, Inside, which focused on songs from noise pop to krautrock. In it, he sang in English. Later, he wanted to give Mat213 a chance to use his poems and melodic lines written in Czech, so he focused on solo work. He concentrated this in the debut album Forest behind Prague, which was released in 2021. It was his first album sung in Czech, in which he styled himself as a kind of bard. Experimental folk songs scorned the city, bourgeois life, conformism, and coming of age themes were wrapped in a kind of ethereal garb. Two years later, his work underwent a transformation. "The Party in Prague album is a certain antithesis of that album and basically connects the artist Mat213 more with my person and less with some fictional character of that bard. The bard throws away the lute and a bag of spider webs, which he trades for a bag of Bolt food and a digital synthesizer," he explains to the musical transformation of Mat213.
