Orff brothers

Few bands resonate as much even ten years after the release of their last album. In addition, the Orff brothers also save considerably with live concerts. Nevertheless, they find new fans and the story of Serži Vantóš still attracts listeners across generations.

"You would hardly find a band in the Czech Republic that so naturally attacks the world level in its genre and at the same time so ostentatiously resists sticking its nose out of bounds; The Orffs give the impression that even Prague is too big for them, and their aesthetics remain firmly rooted in their hometown of Krnov. Serža Vantóš, the hero of their compositions, is a classic example of a petty bourgeois - on the one hand, he has a natural distrust of the world around him, which he does not understand, on the other hand, he deals with life situations by placing them in his well-known context," wrote Dominik Zezula (post-music) of 2014 for Aktualne.cz

The Orff brothers have been on the scene since 2002, the name is a reference not only to the folk cliché "brotherhood", but also to the work of the pioneers of the use of synthesizers in Czechoslovakia, the Orm brothers, and to the so-called Orff musical instruments. The band has gone through personnel changes, the current line-up consists of guitarist and singer Ivan Gajdoš, guitarist Lukáš Novotný, trumpeter Libor Martiník, drummer Petr Odstrčil, bassist Břetislav Koláček and keyboardist and synthesizer player Zdeněk Henych.

On October 20, 2023, the Bingriwingri and Šero album will be released on vinyl in a remastered edition by Minority Records.

The original recordings were carefully remastered by Matouš Godík (Floex, Hidden Orchestra), otherwise an original member of the Orff Brothers, and the original graphic design was also reworked by designer Jirk Libánský. The albums are pressed on audiophile 180 gram vinyl at Schallplattenfabrik Pallas in Germany.

The release of Bingriwingri's debut in 2005 was hailed by the media as an event of the domestic alternative scene, and for the first time ever it will be possible to enjoy it on classic black and amber 180 gram vinyl. Little is known that a number of well-known musicians from the Czech-Slovak scene took part in Bingriwingri. Be it Floex, Daniel Salontay (Longital), double bass player Petr Tichý, flutist and publicist Marian Jaslovský, guitarist Filip Míšek (Khoiba, Dikolson) or acclaimed pianist Jan Bartoš. Radio Expres FM recently ranked Bingriwingri among the 50 best Czech albums.

Šero, eight years younger than him, was no less groundbreaking, for now the last album by the Orff Brothers, which won the Anděl award and the Czech music critics' Apollo award for the best album of 2013. The Orff brothers also took home the Anděl statuette for the best group of the year. Šero received its first vinyl release in 2014 on Quazi Delict Records. However, the current edition is an excellent addition to the collection and holders of the first edition. Due to the higher quality of the sound recording, it is designed as a three-sided 2LP on 180 gram vinyl in classic black and multi-colored smoke. Jádro Šera consists of the lyrics of Ivan Gajdoš, Jakub König aka Kittchen is behind the songs Sůl z Krnov and V začlonách, the author of the text Tunel is the writer Jaroslav Rudiš.
