For more than a decade, the American band Bell Witch has been growing into an unbeatable doom-metal monolith. The tides of the funereal atmosphere send song forms over the seawalls, unraveling the listeners' conventional expectations.
The current release is a single continuous 83-minute track that allowed the band to explore more meditative, melancholic and introspective aspects of their sound through long, lonesome organ passages and vocals from longtime collaborator Aerial Ruin. Last year's album Future's Shadow Part 1: The Clandestine Gate, released on the Profound Lore label, pulsates and breathes in cinematic timelessness and represents the first chapter of the upcoming triptych. They collectively call that Bell Witch Future's Shadow. This is the perfect follow-up to 2017's acclaimed album Mirror Reaper, which they played in full length at Tilburg's renowned Roadburn festival in 2018 to rave reviews.

THE KEENING (USA)
The Keening - the solo musical project of SubRosa's Rebecca Vernon - weaves a web of lush orchestration, American Gothic sensibilities and wintry killer ballads against a backdrop of dark and shimmering folk. Her previous band SubRosa echoes the chamber doom of The Keening. This time abounding with flute, strings, harp, French horn, piano, organ and dulcimer. Exceptionally melodic journeys into haunted swamps, endless wells, secret crimes, jeweled cages and unenviable curses. As dark as it sounds, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
The Keening released their debut album Little Bird on Relapse Records in October 2023. Little Bird immediately appeared at number 10 on Decibel magazine's annual Top 40 Albums list. And within a short time, the band demonstrated their impressive stage prowess. For example, in Portland as support for the recently reunited Agalls at a sold-out show at the Crystal Ballroom. We have something to look forward to!
