Svitava connects Brno from north to south. The aim of Překročně řeku (Crossing the River) festival is to connect the individual sites around Svitava and also to connect people and associations trying to revive its banks in individual city districts in Brno. In addition, the organizers want to strengthen Brno's citizens' interest in the river that runs through Brno and show them the potential of the whole waterfront.

A week before the festival, on Saturday, August 12, a picnic will take place, to clean the river and surroundings and to make benches and other furnishings.
