The work of the Spanish director Calixto Bieito will not leave the audience cold in any way. The camp of his fans is as big as the camp of detractors, but no matter what kind of responses his production arouses, his interpretation always offers an interesting view from unexpected angles. So far, he has two productions of Janáček's operas to his credit - Její pastorkynja and Janáček's last opera From the Dead House, which was presented by the Nuremberg Opera Ensemble at the festival in 2016. This time, Calixto Bieito, together with the ensemble of the Prague National Theater Opera, will offer the festival audience his unique perspective on one of Janáček's most intimate opera works - Káťa Kabanová.
