Concert by students from the Music Faculty of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno

Alongside a separate concert dedicated to Leoš Janáček’s contribution to piano music (8.10.), the JAMU Faculty of Music will present for the second time to festival audiences a programme consisting of a variety of outputs by its students (9.10). In relation to the aforementioned Saturday concert, on the Sunday you will be able to hear at the faculty auditorium one of Janáček’s famous piano compositions – Capriccio for Piano Left- Hand and Chamber Ensemble. He wrote it for Otakar Hollmann, a war invalid, who inspired the composers of the day to write piano works for one hand – in addition to Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů also composed for him.

The audience at the Sunday matinee will also hear students from other interpretive disciplines and in several different locations: the Organ Hall is the venue for a rendition of an incredibly difficult piece, which has been subsequently feared by musicians – Postludium (the separate section in L. Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass), while Studio Devítka will host students of singing who will perform pieces from Janáček’s opera works, and in the basement of the Chamber Hall there will be a performance by an ensemble of double-bass players, who will close the concert with their interpretation of wonderful compositions by M. Gajdoš, N. Rota and E. Zámečník.
