Phil Shoenfelt is a British singer, guitarist, composer and writer who has lived in Prague since 1995. His name is associated with three bands: Southern Cross (Prague); Fatal Shore (Berlin); and Dim Locator (Berlin). In the second half of the 1970s, before moving to New York in 1979, he belonged to the punk scene in Manchester and London. In New York, he played with several punk and post-punk bands, such as Disturbed Furniture and Khmer Rouge. The Khmer Rouge regularly performed at the legendary CBGB's and performed as a front band with artists such as Nico, The Clash, Alan Vega and Billy Idol on their American tours. In the mid-1980s, Shoenfelt returned to the UK and accompanied Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on their two UK tours as a frontman. After moving to Prague (1995), he formed his own group with former members of the band Tichá Dohoda, Phil Shoenfelt & Southern Cross. The band has released four studio albums so far: Blue Highway, Dead Flowers For Alice, Ecstatic and Paranoia.com. Phil's latest CD is Cassandra Lied, a solo recording with special guests such as Chris Hughes of Dim Locator and Kristof Hahn of the famous Swans. Phil is also the author of the books: Junk Love, Green Hotel, Except for the Marrow and Incognito in the Underground. At present, he is occasionally accompanied by the Brno blues band Band Of Heysek.
