This year will see the fourth annual Ženfest pod třešní open-air music festival, which will once again take place in Trchova Zahrada garden near the Svitava River in the district of Brno-Maloměřice and Obřany. The garden will set the stage for the music of various female artists. The festival is hosted by singer-songwriter Martina Trchová, this year nominated for an Anděl Award for her album 90 % štěstí.
The festival focuses on the work of female musicians/songwriters, as well as on female writers, theatre actresses and artists. Men will be featured there too, of course. The event is extremely varied in terms of dramaturgy and genre, and audiences can enjoy experimental folk, indie pop, electronic, blues and slam poetry, as well as some well-known names appearing alongside rising young talents.
This year's festival will include singer and songwriter Kaya, just 18 years old, who has already captivated listeners and professionals at home and abroad with her lyrical and melodic authenticity. Headliner named her Discovery of the Year 2024, and she became the youngest Czech ambassador of Spotify's Equal campaign. Kaya will be performing with a full band. As a contrast to her age and greater sound, there will be a performance by Dagmar Voňková, a legend on the female alternative songwriting scene. Her appearance will be a great pleasure for us, and not only because of her blessed age. Dagmar will be playing her beautiful songs solo on the ukulele. The programme will be hosted by local singer-songwriter Martina Trchová, who released her new album 90 % štěstí last year and was nominated for the 2024 Anděl Award; she already has one Anděl at home for her previous album. The evening will close with Lenka Dusilová, nine times winner of the annual Anděl music awards, who has become a phenomenal figure on the Czech music scene. From her position as a rock and pop star, she has arrived at a form of personal expression that freely accepts impulses from various styles and experiences outside the world of music.
During the evening, Anna Beata Háblová, writer, poet, architect, artist and slammer, will also present her forthcoming novel Víry, and the one-day outdoor exhibition will be opened by artist, singer-songwriter and writer Hana Lundiaková Stinka. The organisers will also naturally be thinking of the little ones. At 4:00 p.m., right under the cherry tree, Anička Duchaňová will play a game for children called "Go to the basket" with her project Anička a letadýlko.
