Iggy Mayerov kicks off 2025 with a new single, Feels Like Yesterday, offering an intimate look at life's losses and changes, and the path to come to terms with what we can't control. The single is currently available on YouTube as a recording of a live concert from the Brno Alterna club, and is a precursor to his upcoming album.
The chorus "Time flies, too much to take, slipping away, but it feels like yesterday" captures the band's nostalgia for the past and the desire to return to happier times, while also reflecting the inevitable passage of time. Feels Like Yesterday is an emotional combination of melancholy, hope and acceptance of change. The song was once again produced by Jakub Kaifosz aka Lazer Viking, who had already collaborated with the band on their successful EP Lovesick.
"The song was written at a time when we were dealing with a lot of life changes as a band and as individuals. Besides sadness, we also wanted to capture a certain hope - the ability to accept changes and find something positive in them," says singer, songwriter and guitarist Tereza Dusilová.
Iggy Mayerov was founded in Prague and first rose to prominence in 2019 with the single Ride, which made it to the final of the Radio Wave Starter competition. The song opened the band's doors to other radio stations, including Radio 1, Expres FM, and the Slovak Radio FM and Radio Slovakia, where their songs are regularly played. In 2022, the band released their début album Millennial Cliché, on which they collaborated with producer Daniel Šubrt. The album's title track was ranked one of the best pop songs of the year by Expres FM. 2023 saw them collaborate with Anděl Award winner Lazer Viking, which resulted in the Lovesick EP. The four tracks on the EP capture different perspectives on relationships - from the euphoria of new beginnings, through the fear of loneliness and the desire to fit in, to the courage to leave dysfunctional relationships behind. The EP also includes the collaborative single Givin' You Up, for which director Petr Vlček created a music video inspired by the aesthetics of Wes Anderson and Karel Zeman. The clip has been viewed over 140,000 times on YouTube. In addition to Tereza Dusilová, Iggy Mayerov also comprises keyboardist Martin Griner, guitarist Michal Pilař, bassist Jakub Pilař and singer Alžběta Kuklová.
