From 8 to 11 April 2025, Pesaro, Italy, will host the annual International Meeting of UNESCO Cities of Music. This city, known as the birthplace of Gioacchino Rossini, was, like Brno, included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2017.
Brno is represented at the meeting by project coordinator Jana Padrnosová. This year, a record 30 cities of music from around the world are participating - from Daegu, South Korea, through Auckland, New Zealand, to London, Canada, and Bogotá, Colombia.
The main themes of this year's meeting are strengthening ties between cities, artist exchanges and sharing good practices in music education and sustainable development through culture. During the individual meetings, Brno is discussing, among other things, specific joint projects with the cities of Daegu, Hannover and Varaždin.
The programme also includes talks about the strategic direction of the network, presentations of local cultural initiatives and the election of the new leadership of the UNESCO Cities of Music.
